ABOUT
michael peven is a professor at the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville where he teaches photography and bookmaking classes and directs the photography program in the Art Department.
peven was born and raised in Chicago and attended the University of Illinois, Chicago for a BA in Design and the School of the Art Institute of Chicago for an MFA in Photography/Artists Books. He has been active as a photographer, bookmaker and installation artist since the 1970s.
In 2014, peven was named Honored Educator by the Society for Photographic Education, South Central Region. His work has been exhibited nationally and internationally and is in numerous public collections and archives. He has received awards and fellowships from the Arkansas Arts Council, Mid-America Arts Alliance/NEA, JW Fulbright College and the University of Arkansas Teaching Academy.
